Swimming sports had much sunshine, sunscreen, chanting, splashing and fun at Makino pool today. Students competed in conventional strokes, as well as pushing noodles around the pool, raft and truck and trailer races, and the ever popular ‘pass the pupil’. For the first time, Year 5 and 6 students came for the end of day ‘free swim’.
The teachers got off to a strong start in the final 4x25m relay between staff, parents and the best of each tribe. A bit of skullduggery by Mrs Eade kept the parents team in the race. Mr Groube had a strong lead for the staff coming into the final leg. However, he slowed down to allow the students to win. Charis Gilbert of Naphtali just beat Liam Simpson at the end. This wasn’t quite enough for Naphtali tribe to overtake Zebulun in second place. Issachar kept a strong lead all day to retain the tribe shield.
Zebulun and Issachar tribe captains, Abi Dore-Wright and Liam Simpson were the premier champion swimmers.
Winning tribe Captain, Devon Snedden thought the day was lots of fun, and wanted to thank the “whole tribe for the team effort”.
