Around 13,000 Year 7 and 8 children from around the country attended Aims Games this week. Cornerstone sent a team of our best six Table Tennis and Badminton players to to the Tauranga tournament. Cornerstone’s all male team were notable for the kindness and respect they showed their opposition.
The boys also performed very well:
- In Table Tennis doubles, Sam and Jason recovered from an early loss to win their last five games in a row, with it scoring the Table Tennis Consolation Plate.
- In Table Tennis Singles, Cristin battled his way into Division 1. This placed him in the top 32 Table Tennis paddlers in the country. An impressive achievement considering most of his opposition are a year older.
- In Badminton Doubles, Cristin and Caleb made the quarterfinals of Division 1, placing them in the top 8 doubles teams in the country.
- In Badminton Singles, Cristin made the national Division 1 quarterfinals, placing him in the top eight players in the country.
“It was a really good experience for the children” proclaimed parent and coach Su Anthony. “They had a great time, while demonstrating determination in their games. We can’t wait for Aims Games 2023. Hopefully we can take a larger team, and get more people involved in these fun sports.”
