Overview of the Enrolment Scheme
Cornerstone Christian School operates an Enrolment Scheme which has been approved by Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | The Ministry of Education.
Under the Enrolment Scheme:
– 1st priority for enrolment is given to preference applicants living inside the Area of Reasonable Convenience*
– 2nd priority for enrolment is given to preference applicants living outside the Area of Reasonable Convenience
– 3rd priority for enrolment is given to non-preference applicants living inside the Area of Reasonable Convenience
– 4th priority for enrolment is given to non-preference applicants living outside the Area of Reasonable Convenience
* also refer to the “Additional entitlement to enrol” provision of the Enrolment Scheme (which may be downloaded below).
If there are more applicants than places available within any listed priority of enrolment, applications for enrolment within that priority will be processed in the following order:
a. Siblings of current students
b. Siblings of former students
c. Children of school staff, the school board or the school proprietor
d. Children of former students
e. Children currently attending the Lower North Island Christian School (LNICS) Kahui Ako preschools (excluding Footsteps which has a pathway through Palmerston North Adventist Christian School and Longburn Adventist College).
f. All other students.
If there are more applicants within a-f than places available, applicants will be ordered by ballot.
Pre-enrolment Processes
Each year applications for enrolment will be sought by a date that will be published on the school website in late July or early August. Places available will be considered separately for each year level (and therefore a waiting list will be generated for each year level if there are more applicants than places available). The waiting list remains current until the Board next advertises places available (typically in July/August the following year).
The board will publish the number of places available for 2026 enrolment in late July or early August 2025.
Non-preference students
The enrolment of non-preference students is governed by the school’s integration agreement. No more than 5% of the school roll may be non-preference. Non-preference students will be enrolled only if enrolment places remain after all preference students have been enrolled and the board judges that enrolment of the non-preference students will not compromise its ability to offer places to preference students who might apply for enrolment at a later date.
The likelihood of our having places for non-preference students in the next enrolment period are outlined the enrolment overview page.
