Have your say on the Manawatū Regional Freight Ring Road

Important Information from PNCC – Please Read

We’re running a series of community expo sessions that will help us identify the preferred route for the Manawatū Regional Freight Ring Road.

The proposed ring road aims to make travel around the city safer and more efficient by reducing heavy traffic on our city roads and improving connections between our key industrial areas and State Highways. It will affect everyone in our city as they travel around our region.

We’ve attached a copy of the five sections that will make up the ring road – each section has several potential route options – so if anyone lives in or near these areas, it’s important they come to one of our community expo sessions to review the routes and vote for their preferred options as they will be directly impacted!

This is our community’s best chance to influence the potential routes. In early-December, we’re holding community expo sessions across the region where people can drop in, view maps of the proposed routes for the first time, provide feedback, and choose their preferred route.

These sessions are part of the project’s Indicative Business Case, which will help narrow down a long list of potential routes to a shortlist – and eventually a preferred route. Once the shortlist is confirmed, there won’t be another opportunity to comment on the full set of routes — so it’s important everyone makes their voice heard now!

The expos are designed as open, drop-in style sessions – there’s no formal presentation, and you can visit any time during the event window that suits you. You’re welcome to bring the kids – there’ll be children’s activities and a BBQ at the events to keep the little ones entertained while parents attend the expo.
