We have a mini version of the newsletter this week, which includes the Deputy Principal’s message, a health notice and Upcoming Events including Teacher Only Day next Monday

Deputy Principal’s message:

Friday 14th August

Unfortunately, some nasty bugs have been making the rounds in the last couple of weeks, causing a significant amount of illness among both students and staff. As a result, our office team has been unable to produce our usual full newsletter this week. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to bringing you a bumper edition next week.

On that note, a reminder that if your child is unwell or showing symptoms of a cold, flu, vomiting, or any other contagious illness, please keep them at home until they are feeling better. This helps minimise the spread of illness throughout our school community and gives your child the rest they need to recover fully.

Thanks to Roslyn School for sharing their Influenza A poster with us.

Despite the bugs, it has been another busy and exciting week at CCS, with plenty happening both in and out of the classroom.

On Monday, our Primary students enjoyed the NED Show, which promoted diligence, kindness, and excellence through fun and engaging activities, including some impressive yo-yo skills that reinforced our school values.

Our Year 7 and 8 boys proudly represented CCS at an interschool football tournament at Ashhurst Domain, while our TLC students competed in a basketball tournament at Fly Palmy Arena.

On Thursday morning, our Primary Pasifika group delighted audiences with a beautiful performance at the Pasifika Fusion Legacy event. It was a privilege to watch our students share their talents and culture with such confidence and pride.

We also completed our 2026 school photos over two days this week, with students looking smart and smiling brightly for the camera.

Today, our Year 5–8 Mathex teams competed in the annual interschool mathematics competition, while a group of Year 9–12 students attended the ShadowTech26 event at UCOL, gaining valuable insight into future career pathways in the technology sector.

To round off the week, our Senior Ball will be held on Saturday evening. We know it will be a memorable and enjoyable occasion for all who attend.

A heartfelt thank you to all the staff, parents, coaches, and volunteers who generously give their time and energy to make these opportunities possible. Your support enriches our students’ experiences and helps create the vibrant school community we value so highly.

Reminder: Next Monday, 17 August is a Teacher Only Day. Our teachers will be spending the day further developing their restorative practice skills and planning for the implementation of the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum, which is being introduced this year and over the next few years.

Blessings,

Raeleen Simpson
