Principal's Message

Tēnā koutou.

Cornerstone Christian School is a treasured part of the Manawatu community. Since 1987, we have partnered with Christian parents and families to support students in both their academic learning and their formation in faith.

Tarryn and I come from a missions background, having served as missionary teachers at Faith Academy in the Philippines early in our teaching careers. I later continued in Christian Character Education within the New Zealand Catholic system before moving to Cornerstone as Deputy Principal in 2019.

My connection to Cornerstone extends even further, as both of our boys began their schooling here in Year 1. They are now in the Middle and Senior Schools. It is a privilege to lead the very school that has nurtured and educated our own sons.

School Board

Our Governance Team

As a state integrated school, Cornerstone Christian School is a part of the state education system. Like other state schools, it is governed by a Board. The Board is responsible for strategic governance, whereas the Principal is the Board’s CEO and is responsible for the management of the school.

The role of the Board is defined further in its governance manual. The Board’s strategic plan is contained in the Charter. Each year, the school reports its progress against the goals outlined in the charter in the school’s annual report.

School Proprietor

Our Foundation’s Vision & Values

To enable integration to take place, the school property and buildings had to be owned by a single body. In 1994, the P.N. New Life Centre Charitable Trust agreed to buy the school buildings and to become the Proprietor of the school. The Proprietor is also charged with safeguarding the Christian Special Character of the school.

The P.N. New Life Centre Charitable Trust remained the school’s Proprietor until December 2014, when the Ministry of Education agreed to transfer the proprietorship to the Cornerstone Christian Education Trust.
