Cultural Groups & Events

Celebrating Culture

Matariki Activities Day includes events throughout the school, such as the Aroha team breakfast, a whole school hangi and an afternoon assembly where we reflect on Matariki: Mata Ariki, with ‘mata’ meaning ‘face’ and ‘Ariki’ meaning ‘God’. Where we come face to face with God.

A time where we give thanks for all God has given us, looking back, looking ahead, sharing stories about those who have passed on, and enjoying food and togetherness with family and others.

Cultures Day is our annual celebration of the many school cultures that make up our school and the kingdom of God. All members of the school community are encouraged to dress in their own cultural attire and to bring a dish and/or performance from their home country.

CCS consults regularly with the parent community and in particular, holds two Māori Hui consultation evenings and two Pasifika Fono consultation evenings per year.
